Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport wants to establish a management board for key traffic projects.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport proposed to establish a Project Management Board for investment and construction of key traffic works in the fourth quarter of 2024 to stabilize the apparatus and operate from the first quarter of 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just sent Document No. 15153/SGTVT-TCCB to the Department of Home Affairs expressing its opinion on the establishment of a Project Management Board for investment and construction of key transport works.

Stating the need to establish additional specialized management boards for transport investment, the Department of Transport said that currently, projects in the transport sector invested by the Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board (TCIP) under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee (except for urban railway projects) are managing a very large number of projects.

Therefore, in recent times, the disbursement rate of projects invested by TCIP has been low, and some projects have been implemented slowly.

Meanwhile, the estimated medium-term public investment capital for the period 2026 - 2030 approved by the City People's Council to implement transport projects is very large (accounting for nearly 70% of the total medium-term public investment capital of Ho Chi Minh City).

Furthermore, the Department of Transport is assigned to prepare many key, large-scale transport projects; projects implemented according to Resolution 98.

In the context that TCIP must focus resources to speed up the progress of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 Project; Tran Quoc Hoan connecting road; expansion of National Highway 50, An Phu intersection, Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho underpass... the establishment of a specialized transport project management board is really necessary.

Therefore, the Department of Transport requested the Department of Home Affairs to promptly advise the City People's Committee to approve the policy and implement the process of establishing the Project Management Board for investment and construction of key traffic works in the fourth quarter of 2024 to stabilize the apparatus and organization to come into operation from the first quarter of 2025.

It is known that Ho Chi Minh City established a new specialized traffic project management board to reduce the burden on the current City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board and speed up project implementation progress, increasing the disbursement rate of public investment capital because traffic projects have very large investment capital.
