Authorities have temporarily banned traffic on the dike section of the Ta Day River in Yen Nghia Ward, Ha Dong District ( Hanoi ) after three subsidence points appeared. A plan to fix this problem is being urgently implemented.
Over the past few days, the People's Committee of Ha Dong district and Yen Nghia ward have erected barriers to block more than 100m of Yen Nghia dike (section across Ta Day river) due to the appearance of 3 subsidence points, posing a risk of traffic safety.
To ensure safety, interdisciplinary units inspected, reviewed, and warned people and vehicles not to pass through the area where the subsidence incident occurred. At the same time, barricades were erected and warning signs were placed.
After the subsidence appeared, the authorities temporarily banned vehicles from moving on the Ta Day River embankment, in Yen Nghia ward, Ha Dong district (Hanoi).
Ms. Tran Thi Luong An, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Dong District, said that the left Day dike section passing through Yen Nghia Ward, Ha Dong District is a dike road combined with traffic service, with a very large traffic volume. The current state of the dike cross-section is not complete, the dike slope is steep, the height difference between the dike surface and the dike foot is large, and there are still many ponds and lakes at the dike foot...
"Due to the impact of storm No. 3 and the heavy rains that followed, 3 subsidence points appeared on the Ta Day River dike, in Yen Nghia ward. The authorities had to erect barriers and prohibit vehicles from moving on the dike surface. Currently, Yen Nghia ward and the Dike Management Department are working on a temporary solution," said Ms. An.
Many "potholes", "chicken potholes" and buffalo backs appeared on the road after the dike base collapsed, causing the concrete structure to separate.
The nearly 3km long dike section of the Day River running through Yen Nghia Ward (Ha Dong District) is a grade I dike, managed by the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. This dike section, which is also a road for traffic, has long been degraded, while the traffic volume passing through here is very high.
On November 15, 2023, the Hanoi People's Committee issued a decision approving the Project to renovate and upgrade the left Day dike combined with traffic roads, the section passing through Ha Dong district.
On July 5, 2024, the Hanoi People's Committee sent a document on the agreement to grant operating licenses related to dikes to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. When the project is implemented, it will fix the damage on the dike road on the left of the Day River through Ha Dong district, which is seriously degraded.
