Risk of infection
Toilets are environments that contain many harmful bacteria and germs. When you bring your phone here, it is inevitable that the device will become contaminated, according to India Today (India).
Bacteria on your phone can easily follow you out of the toilet, spreading to your hands, mouth and surrounding objects. This increases the risk of digestive diseases such as stomachaches and intestinal infections.

Risk of hemorrhoids
One of the most worrying consequences of using your phone in the toilet is sitting on the toilet for too long.
Being engrossed in surfing the net, watching videos , reading news or playing games makes sitting time longer than necessary.
"Sitting on the toilet for long periods of time puts undue pressure on the rectal veins, contributing to the formation of hemorrhoids. The body's natural posture for defecation should be quick, but using a phone delays this process," said Mahesh Gupta, a gastroenterologist at Dharamshila Narayana Hospital in New Delhi.
Unlike sitting on a chair, sitting on the toilet has no support under the hips so the pressure is focused entirely on the rectal area.
"Many patients with hemorrhoids have a common habit of sitting in the toilet for 30 to 45 minutes just watching Reels, YouTube or playing games on their phones," said Vilas Kedar, an anorectal surgeon in Mumbai, India.
Hemorrhoids can cause pain, itching, bleeding during bowel movements and seriously affect daily life.
If not treated early or if bad habits continue, the disease can become severe, requiring surgical intervention.
Impact on back and neck
Not only does it affect the digestive system, sitting for a long time and in the wrong position when using the phone in the toilet can also cause neck and back pain. Bowing your head or tensing your body for too long can cause muscle fatigue.
It is recommended that you do not sit on the toilet for more than 10 minutes. When you need to go to the toilet, do it immediately, avoid delaying or straining.
Maintaining a correct sitting posture, with your knees higher than your hips (you can use a small footstool) also helps the excretion process go more smoothly.
