On the afternoon of November 27, Israeli media quoted a senior security official as saying that the Israeli army is continuing to hold positions in southern Lebanon and has not yet withdrawn from this battlefield according to the ceasefire agreement. Accordingly, the withdrawal of troops across the Green Line will be carried out in a sequential manner.

Israeli officials did not mention a specific time for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to withdraw from South Lebanon, but said the operation would be completed within the agreed 60-day ceasefire period.

The source also stressed that the progress of Israel's withdrawal, as well as the return of residents of the southern Lebanon region, depends on the implementation of the agreement by all parties involved. In particular, the Israeli security official continued to reiterate the warning issued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the IDF would immediately open fire if threatened.

On the ground, the Israeli army announced that afternoon that its soldiers had fired warning shots at some people trying to approach villages in southern Lebanon.

The IDF also said that many roads leading to villages in southern Lebanon have been blocked and that it is working to prevent civilians from reaching its positions.

The IDF confirmed that the Israeli Air Force is actively patrolling Lebanese airspace, while ground units have not made any moves to reposition.

The 60-day ceasefire in Lebanon between the Israeli army and Hezbollah officially took effect at 4:00 a.m. on November 27 (local time).

In his first official statement after the ceasefire came into effect, Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on Israel to fully comply with its commitments, including the complete withdrawal of its forces from occupied areas in southern Lebanon.

The head of the Lebanese government also expressed hope that the implementation of the truce agreement will lead to Beirut being able to hold a new presidential election - the highest position of power in Lebanon that has been vacant for more than 2 years.
