(NLDO) - Social media is abuzz after a clip of a Fortuner driver not running a red light to give way to an ambulance appeared.

On February 10, a clip appeared on social media recording the scene of an ambulance using its siren to signal for priority but was refused by a Fortuner car in front of it to run a red light to give way. After the clip was posted, many people disagreed with the actions of the Fortuner driver and said that giving way to an ambulance is necessary in an emergency situation.

A social media user said: "The driver must have been afraid of being fined for running a red light, so he didn't go. In this emergency, running a red light to give way to an ambulance will not result in a fine."

However, some people are concerned that if a driver runs a red light and gives way to an ambulance and is caught on camera, he or she could easily be fined. "If the authorities do not review the camera recording the incident during the penalty process, the driver of the Fortuner could easily be fined," another social media user wondered.

It is known that the clip was recorded at the intersection of Lenin Avenue and Truong Van Linh Street, Vinh City, Nghe An Province.

According to a leader of the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Province, in the above case, the Fortuner driver who ran the red light to give way to the priority vehicle will not be fined, and the driver's failure to give way to the ambulance is wrong.
