Vietnam and Thailand have had a close relationship since ancient times, especially since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976. Since then, many important events on friendship and cooperation between the two countries and between members of the ASEAN community have taken place.
High-ranking delegations of the two countries regularly meet and pay official visits to each other, and signed agreements have been and are continuously strengthening and developing the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand to new heights.
Together with the people of the whole country, the friendship and cooperation between Nghe An and Thailand, especially with the northeastern provinces of Thailand, over the past decades has been constantly strengthened and developed.
Notably, within the framework of cooperation and friendship between the provinces of the three countries Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, all use Road No. 8 and No. 12 through Cau Treo and Cha Lo International Border Gate. Currently, Thai enterprises have had investment cooperation projects to develop the economy in Nghe An province.
In that context, on February 28, 2002, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province was established with the participation of all levels, departments, branches, organizations and hundreds of members who were overseas Vietnamese in Thailand who returned home in the years 1960-1964 at the call of President Ho Chi Minh.
Since its establishment, after 20 years of operation, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province has had many practical activities such as establishing and exchanging information with Thai partners, with overseas Vietnamese living and doing business in Thailand; organizing friendly exchange activities on the occasion of major holidays of the two countries Vietnam - Thailand.
At the same time, participating in acting as a bridge and focal point for cultural, sports, tourism, trade and investment cooperation activities between Nghe An and Thai partners; opening Thai language classes, participating in charity activities, visiting and encouraging members, etc. has actively contributed to enhancing understanding, friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese people in general, the people of Nghe An province in particular and the people of Thailand.
Therefore, in recent years, many collectives and individuals of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province have been awarded many Certificates of Merit and patriotic emulation flags by the Government, the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the President of the Central Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association, and the People's Committee of Nghe An province.
The organization of the annual friendship exchange program of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province aims to express gratitude to the Thai people who have protected and respected President Ho Chi Minh, revolutionary activists and helped tens of thousands of Vietnamese people who have been living in Thailand.
At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to the Royal Family of Thailand, the Government of Thailand and the people of Thailand for their sympathy, support and cooperation in the cause of building and developing Vietnam.
Through friendly exchange activities to further strengthen people-to-people diplomacy activities, foster friendly relations and cooperation between the Vietnamese people in general, Nghe An people in particular, and the Thai people, to develop increasingly well.
