Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange (LME) rose 1.0% to $9,609.50 a tonne. The contract hit its lowest since Sept. 23 on Thursday and is headed for a third straight weekly decline.

China's economy grew at its slowest pace since early 2023 in the third quarter and its property sector continued to show sharp weakness, although September consumption and industrial output data beat forecasts.

Meanwhile, China's central bank launched two financing programs on Friday, initially injecting up to 800 billion yuan ($112 billion) into the stock market and pushing for rapid adoption of fiscal policies to support the capital market, boosting investor sentiment.

“People are a little confused about the state of the Chinese economy right now because some parts of the economy are doing well, like electronics, while others are doing poorly,” said Dan Smith, head of research at Amalgamated Metals Trading.
