Popular phone scams in recent times aimed at stealing money from victims' online bank accounts can be prevented with expert guidance.

Users need tools to secure their phones.
Users need tools to secure their phones.

Smartphones can be seen as miniature computers, however, most ordinary users are not aware of the need to protect them like a desktop or laptop, while they contain a lot of accounts and personal information... so the risk of cyber attacks is increasing.

“Almost everyone owns at least one smartphone for entertainment, study and work. The popularity of banking applications or e-wallets on mobile phones has promoted a sharp increase in online transactions and this is also the target of criminals. The victims are users who do not have a mindset about phone security,” said Mr. Ngo Tran Vu, Director of NTS Security.

Fraudsters approach their targets in two ways: directly and indirectly. Directly, the fraudster makes phone calls to request or entice the victim to follow instructions such as bank transfers... In the indirect form, the fraudster approaches the target through social media channels, messaging channels such as Facebook Messenger, Telegram or Zalo. They impersonate acquaintances or bank employees, civil servants from the Department or local police to send website links (links) inviting the victim to click to confirm information. Thereby, malware penetrates the victim's phone, or another common case is that the victim is tricked into downloading malicious applications impersonating financial applications, lending applications...

According to Mr. Ngo Tran Vu, ordinary users are often afraid of too many installation steps or difficulties when learning defense knowledge. Therefore, to avoid having to spend too much time, you can rely on a reliable shield like Kaspersky Mobile Security. Because this application is being installed by more than 400 million international users through the Google Play or App Store application market (download the free version).

Not only does it include anti-malware functionality, this security app scans your phone for malicious or potentially harmful apps to block them. KMS helps you manage the permissions that apps request from your phone, making it easier to identify fake apps.

Another strength of KMS is the ability to block malicious links sent to users via messaging tools such as Facebook, Messenger or Telegram... or warn of harmful links when surfing the web on the browser. Accordingly, users will have a 'guard' to remind and warn them of operations on the phone that create the risk of being taken over by criminals or infiltrated by malware.

“Wherever your wallet is, that place needs to be tightly protected. The same goes for your phone, which stores many important accounts such as bank accounts,” Mr. Vu emphasized.
