Training to improve professional skills for photojournalists in the northern region

The training course had the participation of speaker Nguyen Trong Chinh, Editor-in-Chief of Ethnic and Mountainous Photo Newspaper (Vietnam News Agency). The speaker imparted basic knowledge about publishing images on digital platforms; updated trends in photojournalism through the selection of content, media and forms in popular photo work of news agencies around the world ; forms of expression, use of photo news or photo reportage.

During the two-day training course, trainees will be able to: identify topics and issues suitable for information in photojournalism, skills in making photo reports - a genre that honors photo stories, presenting and analyzing photojournalistic works (photo editing); the ability to perceive and evaluate effective information in photos in the press; understand the work of photojournalists and photo editors at news agencies and press agencies today; research photo projects, edit, annotate photos and reorganize their photo archives.

Also in this program, the speaker guides students on how to master digital photography tools and technology as well as techniques for presenting press photos; techniques for presenting press photos with a new perspective, limiting staging, imposing on the subject at the scene, expressing ideas through images and importantly, skills for working with press photos using smartphones in the trend of mobile journalism (Mobile Journalism).

The training course “Towards a diverse photojournalism” is the 4th activity in 2023 of the project “Developing Vietnamese journalism” for the period 2020-2024. In the past 3 years, the School of Training and Fostering Information and Communication Management Staff in collaboration with the Department of Press, the Department of Radio and Television ( Ministry of Information and Communications ) has successfully organized more than 25 activities including organizing training courses, forums on technology, journalism, and book publishing.
