Concentrating resources, attracting and developing union members in Lang Son

Lang Son focuses resources to attract and develop union members.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan said that in implementing the plan to organize a working program with local Party committees on the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in 2024, the working delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor hopes to have specific information from the localities.

From there, there is a basis for comprehensively and objectively assessing the leadership and direction of local Party committees, the results of the implementation of the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in the first 6 months of 2024. At the same time, there are solutions and measures for leadership, direction and organization in the coming time to contribute to the successful implementation of the union member development target in the spirit of Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on "innovation of organization and operation of Vietnamese trade unions in the new situation".

Acknowledging the current difficulties and obstacles of Lang Son in building the union force, Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan suggested that the Trade Unions at all levels have solutions to focus on the informal sector to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions. At the same time, review the content, programs, and plans to propose specific measures and solutions to effectively carry out this work in the coming time. Along with the development, attention should be paid to innovating and improving the quality of trade union organization activities; doing a good job of taking care of the material and spiritual life to retain workers.

As of August 2024, Lang Son province has 41,576 union members, civil servants, and workers, of which the Provincial Federation of Labor is directly managing 1,318 grassroots unions. In the first 6 months of the year, Lang Son trade unions at all levels have developed 1,617 new union members and established 15 new grassroots unions. However, the number of union members decreased by 1,455 due to union members retiring, quitting their jobs, etc., so the actual number only increased by 162 people.
