Tennis player Thuy Linh lost regrettably in the Canada Open final.

(Dan Tri) - Despite playing with great effort, female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh still lost to Manami Suizu (Japan) in the final match of the Canada Open 2025 in the early morning of July 7.

Manami Suizu is ranked 35th in the world , 13 places below Thuy Linh. Vietnam's number one female badminton player played impressively on the way to the final, however, she was somewhat out of shape in the final match.

In set 1, Thuy Linh could only chase her opponent in the early stages of the set and tied 5-5. After that, the Vietnamese player had trouble with Manami Suizu's precise plays. Thuy Linh then quickly lost with a score of 12-21.

Thuy Linh tried her best in set 2 but was unable to compete with her opponent's excitement. The 1997-born player lost 14-21, accepting to watch Manami Suizu win the 2025 Canada Open.

This is the second time this year that Thuy Linh has finished second in a Super 300 level tournament. Last March, she achieved a similar result at the German Open when she lost to Yeo Jia Min (Singapore) in the final.

Although she could not win the championship, Thuy Linh still received 9,120 USD (about 230 million VND) and 5,950 bonus points for being the runner-up.

Thuy Linh was born on November 20, 1997 in Phu Tho . She competed professionally at the age of 14 and since 2018, Thuy Linh has been the number one female tennis player in Vietnam, with 7 consecutive national individual badminton championships. She has also won the Vietnam Open 3 consecutive times since 2022, and has participated in the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics.
