Established in 2009, the free medical transport system in An Giang province has continuously developed in both scale and quality. From a few initial vehicles, the province now has nearly 200 vehicles operating effectively in all communes and wards.

Each year, the volunteer vehicle network supports more than 50,000 patients in difficult circumstances, especially those in remote areas. The model is considered a typical humanitarian model nationwide, recognized and learned by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross and other provinces and cities.

The inspection is an important annual activity, aiming to ensure that medical transport vehicles managed by the Red Cross meet technical safety requirements and are qualified to transport patients and relatives to treatment facilities.

The appraisal process includes: Providing legal documents, insurance, driver's papers and vehicle inspection; checking the technical condition, horns and lights and legality of the vehicle; evaluating medical equipment such as hospital beds, oxygen tanks, stretchers, etc.; reviewing management methods, identification systems such as logos, serial numbers, contact information.

Representatives of the vehicle management board and ambulance drivers were given instructions and questions about the Road Traffic Law, the safe and appropriate use of medical equipment and first aid, the meaning of the Red Cross logo, etc. by the officer in charge of the appraisal team.
