Recently, the United States Pickleball Association (UPA) decided to terminate Quang Duong's contract for violating the terms. Before the contract was terminated, Quang Duong was ranked 6th on the United States Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) rankings.
The reason given by UPA was that Quang Duong was absent from the MLP Mid-Season event in Grand Rapids, Michigan from July 9-13 but was in Nha Trang to attend another event on July 12.

UPA believes that Quang Duong has again violated the commercial contract by participating in the tournament without notifying the UPA representative. This is the second time Quang Duong has been fined by UPA. Previously, in May, he was fined 50,000 USD (about 1.3 billion VND), but the Vietnamese prodigy has complained and has not paid the money.
As of yesterday, PPA has taken action by removing Quang Duong's name from the rankings as well as deleting all data about this tennis player. Tennis player Tyson McGuffin (35 years old) has replaced Quang Duong at 6th place on the PPA rankings.
With UPA unilaterally terminating his contract and PPA removing his name from the rankings, Quang Duong will not be able to participate in pickleball tournaments in the US.

Sharing on the fanpage about pickleball, Quang Duong denied that he had dropped out of the tournament to make money from the commercial event. He shared: “I had a small surgery on my nose and asked for a 2-month break from the Mad Drops team. I planned to rest and recover from July 1-15, so I went on vacation in Nha Trang. I took advantage of this trip to meet and interact with fans, so I did not violate anything.”
Quang Duong, full name Duong Thien Quang, born in 2004, is a professional pickleball player of Vietnamese origin currently competing in the US. He used to be a tennis player before switching to pickleball in 2022 and quickly attracted attention thanks to his tenacious playing style and good technique. Before his contract was terminated, he ranked 6th on the PPA rankings in men's singles.
