Thanh Hoa: Striving to collect more than 35,600 DNA samples of relatives of unidentified martyrs

The police force arranged a reception desk and directly guided people in filling out paperwork to collect DNA samples.

The peak period is expected to be implemented in 18 days (from July 3 to July 20) in 166 communes and wards in the province; striving to successfully collect 35,626 DNA samples to serve the updating of gene bank data and comparison to find the identities of unknown martyrs.

To achieve this goal, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have closely coordinated with local Party committees, authorities, departments, branches, and organizations, especially the Department of Home Affairs, in sharing, collecting, and updating information on martyrs.

With a large number of collected DNA samples, a large area with many mountainous communes, remote areas far from the center, police units and forces in the province have established working groups, fully and thoughtfully prepared equipment and facilities to actively and proactively coordinate with functional forces to review, make lists, and collect complete and accurate information about martyrs' relatives.

On the first day of implementation in 26 communes and wards, a large number of martyrs' relatives came to the DNA sample collection points. By the end of July 3, the whole province had successfully collected and authenticated 1,153 DNA samples of martyrs' relatives.

Thanh Hoa Provincial Police continue to deploy centralized collection teams in 166 communes and wards across the province. The teams work day and night, including Saturdays and Sundays, with the motto "not to miss a single sample, not to mistake a single relative".
