The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warned on July 1 that in the future, heat waves may occur more frequently and intensely due to climate change.

According to AP, the above comment was made in the context that most of Europe is experiencing the first heat wave of the summer, affecting the lives of millions of people. In Spain, the average temperature in June is 23.6 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature ever recorded in a day in June is 37.9 degrees Celsius, on June 30. In France, the temperature sometimes reached 40 degrees Celsius. More than 1,300 schools in this country have had to close partially or completely. The Eiffel Tower in the capital Paris also temporarily closed to visitors in the first days of July.

Meanwhile, 17 major cities in Italy are experiencing a heat wave, with Florence reaching temperatures of 38 degrees Celsius. Portugal recorded a record high of 46.6 degrees Celsius in the town of Mora, west of Lisbon, on June 29. The Czech Republic is also suffering the same fate while Türkiye is struggling with forest fires.

In Asia, the Japan Meteorological Agency said the average temperature in June was 2.34 degrees Celsius higher than the average for the year. In mid-June, many parts of Japan recorded temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. South Korea has also been experiencing a heat wave in recent days, with temperatures in many cities surpassing their June highs at times.
