On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025), on the morning of August 4, in Hanoi , General Secretary To Lam met with typical examples of advanced people in the entire People's Public Security Forces attending the 9th Emulation Congress "For National Security".
Also attending were Politburo members, Central Party Secretaries: Head of the Central Organization Committee Le Minh Hung, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; comrades: General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Minister of Public Security; Le Hoai Trung, Central Party Secretary, Chief of the Central Party Office; Central Party Committee members, leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, agencies, leaders of the Ministry of Public Security ; generals, senior officers in the People's Public Security; Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, relatives of Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, relatives of People's Public Security Martyrs, National Emulation Fighters; representatives of Public Security leaders of units and localities...
Over the past years, imbued with the ideology and teachings of President Ho Chi Minh on patriotic emulation, under the close direction of the Central Party Committee of the Public Security, the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, the emulation and reward work in the People's Public Security has had many positive changes, comprehensive innovation, extensive development down to the grassroots, more substantive, creating a revolutionary action movement, spreading strongly, truly becoming a driving force, urging each cadre and soldier to make more efforts, try harder, and be more determined, excellently completing all tasks assigned by the Party, State and people, truly being the support of the people, beautifying the beautiful image of the People's Public Security soldier, forgetting himself for the country, serving the people.
From the emulation movements, thousands of shining examples have emerged demonstrating bravery, intelligence, courage, dedication, creativity, achieving many feats and achievements, typically being awarded noble awards, including: 44 collectives and individuals were awarded or posthumously awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces"; 78 Military Exploit Medals, 735 Military Exploit Medals, 59 Labor Medals, more than 3,000 Fatherland Protection Medals, 3 Bravery Medals and tens of thousands of collectives and individuals were awarded at all levels.
In particular, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its traditional day, the People's Public Security force was awarded the Gold Star Order for the fifth time.
At the meeting, delegates listened to inspirational stories of advanced examples with specific, simple but noble actions such as: Police officers in remote areas who do not mind dangerous forest roads, stay in the village every night to persuade people not to listen to bad guys; young officers who stay up all night, diligently cleaning data; fire fighters who throw themselves into the fire to save people; and examples of police officers who sacrifice themselves while suppressing crime and helping people.
Despite their different ages, positions, and circumstances, the advanced models all set shining examples of the will to overcome difficulties, the spirit of dedication, and the desire to serve the Fatherland and the people, to be pioneers, to dare to think, to dare to do, to dare to take responsibility, to innovate, to be creative, to dare to face difficulties and challenges, and to dare to act for the common good, dedicating themselves to the cause of protecting security and order, for the peaceful and happy life of the people. They are noble symbols of the spirit of "Forgetting oneself for the country, serving the people", contributing to beautifying the heroic and glorious tradition of the People's Public Security force in the new era.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam stated that the 9th Emulation Congress "For National Security" aims to evaluate the results of emulation movements and commendation work in the People's Public Security in the period of 2020-2025; is an opportunity to review, exchange experiences, share thoughts, feelings and actions in implementing emulation movements of officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security and of security and order forces at the grassroots level. The efforts, dedication and sacrifice of each officer and soldier in each force and unit have achieved positive results, bringing happiness to the people.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that in recent years, with the innovation and strong implementation of the emulation movement for national security, the entire People's Public Security force has always upheld its responsibility before the Party, State and people; overcome all difficulties and challenges, dare to think, dare to do, dare to innovate, dare to take responsibility, dare to sacrifice for the common good, creating remarkable progress in many aspects of work.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the General Secretary commended the collectives and individuals honored today, as well as the police officers and soldiers who have made very positive contributions every day and every hour to the task of protecting security, order, and protecting the peaceful and happy lives of the people.
The General Secretary expressed his emotion, recognition and sympathy for those who sacrificed and were injured while performing their duties; officers and soldiers who devoted their whole lives to the fight against crime and drugs, facing many difficulties, hardships and dangers; officers and soldiers who volunteered to work in border communes, remote areas; soldiers who did not fear fire and floods to save people and property; those who put aside their personal happiness to carry out their duties and protect the peaceful life of the people;... The General Secretary emphasized that emulation for national security exists in each person, from the heart, in thoughts, in actions and in all daily work.
From there, the General Secretary requested to continue paying attention to the work of arranging and assigning cadres, paying attention to the circumstances and lives of each cadre and soldier; paying more attention to the regimes and policies for cadres, soldiers and those performing the task of ensuring security and order.
The General Secretary proposed to continue to effectively implement the movement of the entire people to protect national security; to praise, honor, and replicate advanced models, examples of "good people, good deeds" to arouse pride, promote the heroic revolutionary tradition, create motivation for cadres and soldiers to constantly cultivate, train, strive to compete, and be determined to successfully carry out the task of protecting security and order, building a clean, strong, disciplined, elite, and modern People's Public Security force, contributing to building and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
The General Secretary hopes that, promoting the glorious heroic tradition of 80 years of construction, fighting and growth, with the spirit of solidarity, discipline, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland, serving the people and the aspiration to contribute, in the new revolutionary stage of the country, the People's Public Security force will definitely overcome all difficulties and challenges, excellently completing all tasks entrusted by the Party, State and people.
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam presented gifts to the family of People's Public Security martyr Lieutenant Colonel Dang Anh Quan, former Captain of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Cau Giay District Police (old), who bravely sacrificed his life while performing firefighting and rescue duties in Quan Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District (old) in August 2022.
General Secretary To Lam and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang also presented gifts to outstanding examples in the People's Public Security force and outstanding examples of security and order forces at the grassroots level./.
