According to Bild (Germany), Muller has said goodbye to the players and coaching staff of the German national team. He will officially announce it to fans in a few days.

The decision was made after Die Mannschaft's defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals. The match ended 2-1 in favor of Spain after 120 minutes of dramatic play.

Previously, in an interview after the Euro 2024 quarter-final match, the 34-year-old striker hinted at the possibility of retiring from the national team: "Realistically, this could be the last time I wear the national team jersey."

However, midfielder Muller confirmed that he will continue to play for Bayern Munich until his contract expires in 2025.

Specifically, Muller is only behind Lothar Matthaus (150 matches) and Miroslav Klose (137 matches).

The most memorable moment in Muller's career in the German national team was the 2014 World Cup championship. He scored 5 goals and contributed greatly to helping the "Tank" win the world championship.
