The valedictorian of grade 10 in Hanoi was once the valedictorian of grade 6 Chuyen Ngu, Cau Giay.

Nguyen Hoang Minh Quan has just passed the Hanoi 10th grade exam with 48.5 points. Of which, Quan achieved perfect scores in math, English and 9.25 points in literature.

Quan also achieved high scores in specialized math (8.25) and specialized English (7.2). He registered for specialized math, specialized IT and specialized English at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

Quan is also a junior high school student at this top specialized school in Hanoi.

Quan was born and raised in Hue . At the end of 4th grade, he moved to the North because his parents changed their workplace. In 5th grade, Quan passed the scholarship exam to Hanoi Star Primary and Secondary School.

In grade 6, Quan topped the entrance exams to Foreign Language Specialized Secondary School, Cau Giay Secondary School.

He also ranked 3rd in grade 6 but was equal to Ams school, won a 100% scholarship from Hanoi Star Primary and Secondary School, and a 90% scholarship from Newton Secondary and High School. However, the final choice, Quan studied the regular program of Ams school.

Ms. Do Thi Kim Ngan - Nguyen Hoang Minh Quan's mother - shared with Dan Tri reporter that the family was extremely surprised at the results their child achieved.

"I still remember 4 years ago, when the language school announced that my child was the valedictorian, he told me: "The school must have called the wrong person, Mom," Ms. Ngan said.

Ms. Ngan said that Quan is very confident. When he came back from the 10th grade exam, he only said "I can do it", "I did it normally". Sometimes Quan said to his mother "I wonder if I can get a 10".

Ms. Ngan is quite comfortable because she believes that her son will pass the 10th grade public school entrance exam. Before that, Quan passed all 3 top specialized schools of the university including: IT specialized school of Natural Science Specialized High School, English specialized school of Foreign Language Specialized High School, English specialized school of Pedagogical University Specialized High School.

However, Ms. Ngan did not think about her son being the top scorer in the 10th grade exam.

According to Ms. Ngan, Quan studied all subjects well. Although he did not study much English but only focused on math, Quan still passed the English major with a scholarship.

Because her son studies well, the fact that the math major boy got 9.25 points in literature did not surprise Ms. Ngan too much.

Quan will major in IT when he enters high school. He and his family are still considering options after the official results of the 10th grade entrance exam are available.
