Japanese Prime Minister proposes to support Vietnam in developing high-tech agriculture

On the afternoon of April 28 at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

Japan accompanies Vietnam in the new era

According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , at the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed Prime Minister Ishiba's first official visit to Vietnam as Japanese Prime Minister after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Sharing his impressions of Vietnam's development after his visit to Vietnam 35 years ago, Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru affirmed that Japan will continue to be an important partner, accompanying Vietnam in the new era.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the substantial development of Vietnam-Japan relations after nearly two years of upgrading to a comprehensive strategic partnership; agreed to enhance political trust and promote exchanges between the two Parties and National Assemblies.

The National Assembly Chairman assessed that the Japanese Prime Minister's visit to Vietnam this time has opened up many new cooperation opportunities in all fields.

Prime Minister Ishiba hopes that the two countries' parliaments will increase exchanges and share experiences in organizing National Assembly elections.

The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in four priority areas: economy, human resource training, people-to-people exchange and local cooperation.

The National Assembly Chairman proposed promoting economic links, supporting Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the global supply chain, encouraging Japanese investment in the fields of high-tech agriculture, renewable energy and infrastructure; expanding high-quality training programs, student and labor exchanges, contributing to solving the problem of aging population in Japan and enhancing capacity for Vietnam.

The National Assembly Chairman also suggested that the two sides increase cultural and tourism exchanges and close cooperation between localities of the two countries, and continue to pay attention to and organize the Mekong Cultural Tourism Day in Can Tho city.

High-tech industrial cooperation, agricultural digitalization

Prime Minister Ishiba affirmed that Japan will continue to support Vietnam's development through strengthening cooperation in high-tech industry, training high-quality human resources, and semiconductors.

He agreed to continue to encourage Japanese enterprises to increase investment in Vietnamese localities, including Can Tho city; affirmed to support Vietnam in building infrastructure, responding to natural disasters, climate change, green transformation, digital transformation on the basis of promoting Japan's strengths; promote labor cooperation, and train high-quality human resources.

As the former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, Prime Minister Ishiba said that Japan's agricultural sector is facing many difficulties; he hoped that the two sides would promote stronger cooperation in the agricultural sector, including Japan's support for Vietnam in developing high-tech agriculture and digitalizing the agricultural sector.

The two leaders discussed and agreed to strengthen coordination, share stances, and cooperate on regional and international issues of mutual concern; and continue to closely and effectively coordinate at regional and world forums.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman sent his regards, best wishes for health and an invitation to visit Vietnam soon to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan.
