Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife chaired a meeting and reception for the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam on the occasion of the traditional New Year.

On the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year 2024, on the evening of January 24, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife chaired a meeting and reception for the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam.

Also attending were leaders of the Government and National Assembly; representatives of Vietnamese ministries and sectors; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Vietnam Saadi Salama, Head of the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam, along with Ambassadors, Chargé d'Affaires, Heads of international organizations in Hanoi and their spouses.

In a warm, sincere, and joyful atmosphere, speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that on December 22, 2023, nearly 2 billion people around the world received good news when the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution recognizing Lunar New Year as an annual holiday of the United Nations.

For the Vietnamese people, the traditional Tet holiday has an important meaning, it is an occasion for family and community reunion, sharing, and bonding; for everyone to look back on the past year, express gratitude, send wishes and hope for a better new year.

On this occasion, on behalf of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, the Prime Minister sincerely thanks the Ambassadors, Chargé d'Affaires, and Heads of international organizations. Through the delegates, the Prime Minister would like to express his deep gratitude to the Governments, peoples of countries and international organizations for their sincere sentiments, effective cooperation and valuable support for Vietnam in 2023 and throughout the past time.

The Prime Minister said that in 2024, the world and regional situation is forecast to continue to develop in a complex and unpredictable manner; however, peace, cooperation and development are still the main currents, the major trends, and the common aspirations of mankind. In order for those opportunities and potentials to become new driving forces to serve the aspirations of peace and development of mankind, it requires the efforts, solidarity and unanimity of each country and the whole world.

Vietnam continues to make efforts with countries and international organizations to unite and join hands to build an increasingly peaceful, happy and better world, so that all people regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion or belief can have a prosperous and happy life, and no one is left behind.

The Prime Minister hopes and believes that Ambassadors, Chargé d'Affaires, and Heads of International Organizations in Vietnam will continue to effectively promote their special bridging role, bringing the friendship and cooperation between countries and international organizations with Vietnam to become increasingly closer, deeper, more practical and effective; so that each country and each nation can develop more strongly, for a world of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.

The Prime Minister sent New Year greetings to delegates with a Vietnamese folk couplet: "Happy New Year, may all your wishes come true/Happy Spring, may all your wishes come true."

On behalf of Ambassadors, Chargé d'Affaires, and Heads of International Organizations in Hanoi, speaking at the event, Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Head of the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam - Mr. Saadi Salama congratulated Vietnam's important achievements and milestones in 2023.

Mr. Saadi Salama said that Vietnam's international role and position continue to be affirmed; Vietnam has been and is continuing to expand and develop comprehensive strategic partnerships or strategic partnerships with many countries, while constantly strengthening relations with traditional friends, maintaining and developing relations with all major countries and other key partners.
