Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to officially visit Vietnam

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra will lead a high-ranking delegation from the Thai Government to pay an official visit to Vietnam and co-chair the 4th meeting of the Vietnam - Thailand Joint Cabinet from May 15 - 16.

On May 12, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra will lead a high-ranking delegation of the Thai Government to pay an official visit to Vietnam and co-chair the 4th meeting of the Vietnam - Thailand Joint Cabinet from May 15 - 16.

Previously, on October 9, 2024, on the occasion of attending the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits in Vientiane, Laos, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

The two Prime Ministers were pleased with the good development of the friendly neighborly relations and the Vietnam-Thailand Enhanced Strategic Partnership; agreed to increase contacts and exchanges at high and all levels; directed relevant agencies to effectively deploy bilateral cooperation mechanisms, actively implement the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Thailand Enhanced Strategic Partnership for the 2022-2027 period in all fields.

The two sides agreed to strive to soon reach the target of 25 billion USD in bilateral trade in a balanced manner, through limiting trade barriers, facilitating further opening of commodity markets, removing obstacles and enhancing trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reaffirmed the importance of enhancing coordination and information exchange in the fight against terrorist and reactionary organizations; ensuring that no individual or organization is allowed to use the territory of one country to fight against another.

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra emphasized that Vietnam is one of Thailand's important partners in Southeast Asia and hopes to soon develop relations with Vietnam to a new height.
