Since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which led to the Israel-Hamas war, Islamophobia has recurred at an alarming rate in many countries, especially in the United States.
The United Nations General Assembly (UN) on March 15 adopted a resolution on measures to combat Islamophobia. The document specifically condemns incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence against Muslims, as evidenced by the increasing number of desecrations of the Koran, attacks on mosques, and acts of religious intolerance, hatred and violence against Muslims. The resolution calls on UN member states to take all necessary measures to combat religious intolerance, negative prejudice, hatred, incitement to violence and violence against people on grounds of their religion or belief.
The resolution calls on UN member states and relevant parties to promote dialogue among religions, cultures and civilizations, respect and accept differences, religious and cultural diversity...; requests the UN Secretary-General to appoint a UN special envoy on combating Islamophobia and submit a report to the UN General Assembly at its next session on the implementation of this resolution.

In a statement issued by the White House on the occasion of the International Day Against Islamophobia (March 15), the US leader called for the elimination of hatred and violence against Muslims; at the same time, creating a world of religious freedom and safety for all people.
President Biden stressed that many Muslims still suffer from unfounded fear, blatant discrimination, harassment and violence in their daily lives. According to Mr. Biden, the US is currently drafting the first National Strategy to Combat Religious Bias and Discrimination. The goal of the strategy is to mobilize a whole-of-society effort to combat all forms of hatred, discrimination and prejudice against Muslim, South Asian Sikh and Arab-American communities; at the same time, raise awareness of the Muslim community's heritage and invaluable contributions to the United States.
