Nam Dinh Club is waiting for Xuan Son
Nam Dinh FC will compete in the National Super Cup against Hanoi Police FC (CAHN FC), taking place at 6 p.m. on August 9 at Thien Truong Stadium, Ninh Binh Province. At the press conference before the match, coach Vu Hong Viet informed about the recovery of striker Nguyen Xuan Son.
Xuan Son is in the final stages of recovering from the injury he suffered in the second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final (between Vietnam and Thailand) in January 2025. After a successful surgery, doctors have predicted that Xuan Son could return in September or October. Over the past few months, the medical team has regularly visited and consulted to monitor the recovery of the striker born in 1997.

However, coach Vu Hong Viet affirmed that Xuan Son is unlikely to return in the first leg of V-League 2025 - 2026, and hopes that he will return to play in the second leg. Currently, Xuan Son is in Brazil for rehabilitation training and rest. Nam Dinh Club will update the recovery progress of the player wearing shirt number 12 to calculate personnel.
Xuan Son joined Nam Dinh Club in the 2020 season, then moved to Da Nang, Binh Dinh, and then returned to Thien Truong Stadium in the 2023-2024 season. Here, the Brazilian striker scored 31 goals in 26 matches, helping Nam Dinh Club win the V-League for the first time. An injury at the 2024 AFF Cup caused Xuan Son to miss the second half of the 2024-2025 season. However, Nam Dinh Club still extended the contract with Xuan Son, helping him secure his future even though he could not return to the field.
Returning to the National Super Cup match, coach Vu Hong Viet emphasized: "The ball has not yet rolled, so nothing can be said in advance. This is an important match, opening the new season, so both teams are certainly very determined. For us, the desire to win is even greater when playing at home at Thien Truong Stadium."

The coach of Nam Dinh team also informed about the training process in Korea to prepare for the new season: "We had a training trip and friendly match in Korea. This is an important opportunity to help the players improve their physical condition and get used to the intensity of international competition. I appreciate the spirit of concentration and effort of the whole team during the preparation process, especially when the Super Cup is approaching."
Coach Polking: CAHN Club will win the National Super Cup
Taking charge of the National Super Cup for the first time, coach Alexandre Polking of CAHN Club believes his team will win the championship.
"I am sure this will be a satisfying match for the fans. I hope that after the final whistle, we will lift the championship trophy," coach Polking shared.
In his first full season with CAHN Club, Coach Polking and his students won the 2024-2025 National Cup, won the V-League bronze medal and the ASEAN Club Championship silver medal. The German strategist's team had an impressive sprint when they were unbeaten in 8 of the last 9 matches to achieve their goal. In the context that CAHN Club had to play 39 matches in 3 arenas, this is an acceptable achievement.

This season, CAHN Club will participate in V-League, National Cup, ASEAN Club Championship and AFC Champions League 2. With the number of matches that can reach 40-45, the reigning National Cup champion is eager to win the National Super Cup to create a springboard for the next goal.
Goalkeeper Nguyen Filip said that CAHN Club must overcome the sadness of defeat in the 2023 Super Cup match (losing 1-3 to Thanh Hoa Club) to better prepare for the match at Thien Truong Stadium of Nam Dinh Club.
"The 2023 Super Cup is an unforgettable memory for me and the whole team. To avoid repeating the unwanted result, we have prepared more carefully for the upcoming match, from competitive mentality to expertise. The whole team is determined to win," Nguyen Filip affirmed.
