Honoring Vietnamese in Japan

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu affirmed that supporting, accompanying and encouraging the community to maintain cultural identity and preserve the Vietnamese language is one of the key tasks of the Embassy. The Embassy and the Community Affairs Board always pay attention to, create conditions and support teachers and Vietnamese language centers to promote the passion to preserve the Vietnamese language for generations of Vietnamese children in Japan.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu suggested that the Vietnamese community in Japan be more active in the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese. To do this well, the Ambassador hopes that teachers will invest more in researching and drafting textbooks suitable for children living in Japan; believing that the Vietnamese language movement in Japan will develop strongly in the coming time, meeting the essential needs of the community.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang highly appreciated the associations in Japan for their many activities connecting Vietnamese people at home and abroad; they have made great efforts to contribute, with a sense of responsibility and love for their homeland, while not forgetting to preserve and conserve the Vietnamese language in addition to economic development. Sharing with teachers and students, the Deputy Minister wished that each family and each community would preserve the Vietnamese language every day, nurturing in the children's souls the culture of the nation's roots.

Presenting Vietnamese books to teachers and students, the Deputy Minister also affirmed that the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will accompany the Vietnamese community in Japan by providing textbooks, organizing training courses on Vietnamese teaching skills for teachers and volunteers, etc.; believing that there will be many Vietnamese Ambassadors of the community in Japan present at the final night of "Searching for Vietnamese Ambassadors" on September 8 in Hanoi .

The Vietnamese Language Association in Japan, the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka and the Vietnamese Association in Kansai presented papers sharing the difficulties and advantages in organizing the teaching and learning of Vietnamese in the community, as well as proposing specific recommendations to the Committee.
