In particular, President Widodo announced the official decision to appoint 7 new positions in the cabinet, including 3 ministers, 1 deputy minister and 3 heads of agencies and departments.

Former Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia will be the new Energy Minister, while former Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Rosan Roeslani will be the new Investment Minister. The new Law and Human Rights Minister is Supratman Andi Atgas, while Angga Raka Prabowo has been appointed as Deputy Information and Communications Minister.

In addition, President Joko Widodo also appointed Mr. Dadan Hindayana, an agriculture professor and member of Mr. Prabowo's campaign team, as the new head of the National Nutrition Agency.

According to an official at the Indonesian presidential palace, Ari Dwipayana, the appointment of a new cabinet is necessary to prepare and support the smooth and effective transfer of power.

Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto told reporters that the reshuffle would be part of the transition to the new government.

Jokowi and Prabowo have been moving toward a transition for months. In July, outgoing President Widodo appointed Prabowo’s nephew, politician Thomas Djiwandono, as deputy finance minister.
