Ho Chi Minh City organizes international forum on museums and curators

VHO - The UNESCO Representative Office in Hanoi, in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture and the University of Sydney Vietnam, organized the International Forum “Future Curators: The Transformation of Museums in Vietnam”, taking place at Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture on June 29, 2025.

The forum is a follow-up to the first discussion session held in Hanoi in November 2024 within the framework of the Creative Design Festival.

The second session in Ho Chi Minh City aims to create a forum for interdisciplinary dialogue, enhance curatorial capacity and promote cooperation between public museums and the private sector in Vietnam.

The event is expected to gather delegates from museums, research institutes, universities, professional associations, galleries, and art spaces in Ho Chi Minh City and other localities.

According to the Organizing Committee, at the forum, speakers and delegates focused on discussing many topics, such as: Curating and community activities; Cherishing and honoring memories; Dialogue and mutual learning; Museum practice - skills and sustainability; Public-private sector cooperation; shaping the model of the future museum...

Within the framework of the forum, delegates will participate in a field trip to a number of typical museums and art spaces in Ho Chi Minh City such as: Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, Quang San Art Museum, Galerie Quynh, The Factory Contemporary Art Center, San Art, Vin Gallery and Nguyen Art Foundation.

The forum aims to strengthen the capacity of the Vietnamese museum system in the context of innovation, diversifying community voices, applying digital technology and expanding international connections.

At the same time, this is also an opportunity to establish a sustainable academic partnership between Vietnam and Australia in the fields of culture and museums.
