On the morning of August 26, Southern students received Vallet scholarships.

According to information, in 2024, there were 622 applications from high school students, 948 from university students, and 77 from graduate students applying for the Vallet Scholarship. As a result, the Vallet Scholarship Fund selected 304 students, 135 from university students, and 20 from graduate students, and in particular, 6 scholarships were reserved for 2 strong research groups in biology. The value of each scholarship is 29 million VND.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Esperan Panodou, Director of the Vallet Scholarship Fund, said that during the 25 years of awarding scholarships, 80,000 scholarships have been awarded to three countries: the French Republic, the Republic of Benin (a country in Africa) and Vietnam. Of these, more than 50,000 scholarships have been awarded to Vietnamese students.

Among the students who received scholarships, more than 1,000 have become excellent doctors, 400 have received international Olympic medals...

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Vice President of VNU-HCM, emphasized that the Vallet Scholarship Fund is not only a special connection between Dr. Odon Vallet and Professor Tran Thanh Van (Chairman of the Rencontres du Vietnam) but also demonstrates the friendship between Vietnam and France.

"The Vallet scholarship is both financially meaningful and a source of great spiritual encouragement, helping students feel confident and secure in their studies and research, fostering excellence and helping their dreams reach new heights," shared Professor Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai.

The Odon Vallet Scholarship was established with the contribution of Dr. Odon Vallet (Sorbonne University, France).

Having inherited a large fortune, Dr. Odon Vallet did not spend it on himself, but deposited all of it in the bank and entrusted a portion to the Vietnam Encounter Organization led by Professor Tran Thanh Van and Ms. Le Kim Ngoc (Chairman of the Association to Help Vietnamese Children) to organize and award scholarships to excellent young people in Africa and especially in Vietnam, including Vietnamese students in France.

This is the largest and longest-running scholarship fund in our country today (continuously operating for the past 24 years) to help excellent and talented students. The scholarship recipients are not only students in big cities but also children of poor farmers in remote areas from the Northwest, Viet Bac to the Mekong Delta, especially ethnic minorities and SOS villages nationwide. As of 2024, the Odon Vallet scholarship has awarded over 55,000 scholarships with a total value of nearly 500 billion VND and the scholarship amount has increased steadily each year in both quantity and value.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Vallet Foundation. The celebration will be held in Hanoi on September 8.
