In Tan Loi hamlet, Tan Hung commune, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu has been developing an organic mulberry growing model on an area of 2 hectares, bringing economic efficiency, protecting the environment and opening up a direction for developing agricultural ecotourism.

Stemming from the desire to provide clean products to consumers, in 2021, Mr. Vu invested in land improvement for 2 years using organic methods such as creating vegetation, fertilizing with microorganisms, and installing a drip irrigation system to help save costs, care, and protect water resources.

About 1,000 mulberry trees are grown using sustainable farming methods, without the use of pesticides. Manual methods such as catching worms, removing damaged leaves, clearing the garden, and biological products are used to effectively control pests and diseases.

The initial investment cost is about 250 million VND/ha, including land improvement, irrigation system and seedlings. Each year, the cost of care is about 100 million VND/ha. Mulberries bear fruit all year round, each harvest lasts about 1 month, then rests for 3 months for the tree to recover.

Thanks to the division of planting and processing into areas, his strawberry garden has a continuous harvest. Currently, his family harvests about 80kg of fresh strawberries every day, selling them to the market, mainly to small traders in Ho Chi Minh City and visitors. In addition, the garden also creates seasonal jobs for local workers.

Not stopping at production, Mr. Vu also took advantage of the strawberry garden to develop a green tourism model. At first, there were only a few groups of visitors, but gradually, many groups of visitors came to experience it.

Visitors can pick their own strawberries, enjoy fresh mulberry juice, pickled strawberries, dried strawberries, and many other agricultural products such as coconut water, green-skinned grapefruit, grapefruit peel jam, etc. at the price of 50,000 VND/kg of fresh strawberries, 60,000 VND/kg of pickled strawberries or a 250g bag of dried strawberries.

During summer vacations or weekends, there are also interesting and meaningful activities for parents and children.

In the cool green space, everyone can pick ripe strawberries by hand, participate in physical games or experience being a farmer, learning how to grow simple vegetables such as cabbage, Malabar spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.

Ms. Ngoc Mai (Duong Minh Chau commune) was excited to bring her children here to experience planting trees and picking strawberries in the garden.

Ms. Ngoc Mai shared: "I find the activities of planting trees and picking strawberries here very useful. My child gets to directly get acquainted with farming work and understands more about the efforts of growers. Most importantly, the child gets to exercise and run around outdoors instead of just being glued to the phone like usual."

Not only bringing economic value, Mr. Vu's organic mulberry garden also contributes to transforming the crop structure, promoting land use efficiency and opening up a new direction for agricultural development combined with local tourism./.
