On the morning of June 29, at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision to recognize ceramic pots as national treasures and opened the thematic exhibition National Treasures - Heritage Masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City .
Add new national treasure
According to the organizers, the ceramic pot (Dong Son culture) dates back about 2,000 - 2,500 years ago. This artifact belongs to the private collection of Pham Gia Chi Bao (former actor Chi Bao).
The ceramic pot was recognized as a national treasure by the Prime Minister on December 31, 2024.
Former actor Chi Bao said this ceramic pot was found in Dong Tien commune, Dong Son (Thanh Hoa) in the Ma river basin. Up to now, this is the 7th pot of Dong Son culture that archaeologists have discovered in Vietnam.

The ceramic steamer collected by Mr. Chi Bao is the most intact, largest, and has a balanced and harmonious shape. The ceramic steamer was previously used to cook sticky rice or steam food.
In the near future, the ceramic pot will be displayed at the Museum of Ceramics during the nation's founding period established by Mr. Chi Bao.
Visitors are the best protectors
The ceramic pot is one of 17 national treasures being displayed in the National Treasures - Heritage Masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City exhibition at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History.
The remaining 16 national treasures on display are kept at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, Ho Chi Minh City Museum, and Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts.

These are the Dong Duong Buddha statue (Champa culture) dating from the 8th - 9th century; the Devi Goddess statue (Champa culture) dating from the 10th century; the Avalokitesvara Hoai Nhon statue (Champa culture) dating from the 8th - 9th century; the Avalokitesvara Dai Huu statue (Champa culture) dating from the 10th century;
Statue of Vishnu (Oc Eo culture) dating from the 2nd - 5th century; statue of Surya (Oc Eo culture) dating from the 6th - 7th century; statue of Goddess Durga (Oc Eo culture) dating from the 7th - 8th century; statue of Avalokitesvara (Oc Eo culture) dating from the 8th - 9th century; statue of Buddha Sa Dec (Oc Eo culture) dating from the 4th century;
The Binh Hoa Buddha statue (Oc Eo culture) dates from the 4th - 6th century; the Loi My Buddha statue (Oc Eo culture) dates from the 4th - 6th century; the Son Tho Buddha statue (Oc Eo culture) dates from the 6th - 7th century;
The seal of the Marquis of Liang Tai dates from 1833; the printing block of the 5-dong bill dates from 1947;
The painting Spring Garden of the Central, South and North by artist Nguyen Gia Tri was made from 1969 to 1989; The painting Thanh Nien Thanh Dong by artist Nguyen Sang was sketched in 1967 and completed in 1978.

The organizers said the thematic exhibition helps people better understand the value of national cultural heritage, contributing to spreading awareness of protecting, preserving and promoting the values of Vietnamese cultural heritage.
Regarding security work and protection of national treasures, Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - said: "We have a plan to protect the national treasures on display such as security cameras, specialized security forces and sending official dispatches asking for additional support from relevant agencies.
We have locks and fences of all kinds, but they only protect innocent people. There is no protection like the people who come to enjoy the exhibition. The cultural attitude of the people is the best protector for this exhibition of national treasures."
The exhibition of National Treasures - Heritage masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City takes place from June 29 to August 10 at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History.
On this occasion, Ton Duc Thang Museum received the decision on ranking it as a Grade I museum from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Up to now, 7/7 museums under the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City have been ranked as Grade I museums, including: Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, War Remnants Museum, Ho Chi Minh Museum - Ho Chi Minh City branch, Southern Women's Museum, Ton Duc Thang Museum.
