Special exhibition 'President Ho Chi Minh - Founder of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism'

On the morning of June 20, the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Ho Chi Minh Museum opened a special exhibition titled 'President Ho Chi Minh - Founder of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press'.

This is one of the activities to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, the 114th anniversary of Uncle Ho's departure to find a way to save the country, and the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

The special topic President Ho Chi Minh - Founder of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press introduces 100 documents and artifacts, and the exhibition consists of 2 parts: Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh and President Ho Chi Minh - Founder and trainer of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press.

The exhibition displays articles by President Ho Chi Minh in revolutionary newspapers related to each historical period of the nation during the two long and arduous resistance wars. Along with that are precious images of President Ho Chi Minh, articles written by him in foreign and domestic newspapers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, shared that this exhibition aims to affirm that President Ho Chi Minh was not only the one who laid the foundation and founded the revolutionary newspaper - Thanh Nien Newspaper, but he also trained the first generation of proletarian journalists in Vietnam.

"Under the leadership, education and training of President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has truly become a sharp weapon, encouraging and motivating the entire population to participate in the revolutionary cause. The exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh, the founder of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, once again affirms the Vietnamese revolutionary press as a vivid and heroic chronicle of our people's cause of building and defending the Fatherland," said Ms. Kim Lien at the ceremony.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City, acknowledged the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Ho Chi Minh Museum in organizing a special exhibition on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. Thereby, it helps generations of journalists look back at the past, prepare for future development directions, to build a professional, humane and modern Vietnamese revolutionary press.

During his revolutionary career, President Ho Chi Minh founded 9 newspapers at home and abroad. He had more than 2,000 articles of all kinds, nearly 300 poems, nearly 500 pages of stories and memoirs... With about 182 pen names, writing in many languages: Vietnamese, English, French, Russian, Chinese..., collaborating with many famous foreign newspapers, especially in places where he participated in revolutionary activities.

Than Ai Newspaper No. 4, published on January 15, 1928. Than Ai Newspaper was founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (President Ho Chi Minh) in 1928, was the mouthpiece of Than Ai Association, the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth Association branch of overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, published within the overseas Vietnamese organization in Siam (Thailand).

According to documents compiled by the Ho Chi Minh Museum, in early 1925, at No. 13 Van Minh Street, Guangzhou, China, Nguyen Ai Quoc founded the Thanh Nien newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association (Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association). This was the first revolutionary newspaper in Vietnam, the newspaper that opened the history of revolutionary journalism and Vietnamese proletarian journalism.

In February 1985, at the request of the Vietnam Journalists Association , the Central Party Secretariat issued Decision No. 52 dated February 5, 1985, taking the date of the first issue of Thanh Nien newspaper as Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925), in order to strengthen the Party's leadership over the press, enhance the role and social responsibility of the press, and strengthen the relationship between the press and the public.
