Speaking to reporters, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said that President Joe Biden's administration is feeling uncomfortable with Beijing's recent actions as well as attacks targeting American companies.

The White House is now conveying its views to Beijing through the US Department of Commerce.

In a related development, the Chairman of the US House Committee on China - Congressman Mike Gallagher - said on the same day that the Department of Commerce should add Chinese memory chip manufacturer Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT) to the trade blacklist.

“The United States must make clear to China that it will not tolerate ‘ economic coercion’ against its companies or allies,” Gallagher said in a statement.

The Department of Commerce should immediately add ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) to the Entity List and ensure that no U.S. technology, including technical specifications, is transferred to CXMT, YMTC, or other Chinese companies operating in this sector.”

Previously, on May 21, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) announced a ban on critical infrastructure companies from purchasing Micron Technology memory chips. The reason came from the American company failing to pass a cybersecurity assessment.

"Micron's products contain serious cybersecurity risks, endangering the security of key information infrastructure supply chains and affecting China's national security," the CAC said.
