Exchange programs in these forms are also an opportunity to promote the image and brand of Da Nang to friends from other countries, while promoting cooperation in economics , investment, education and training.

Connect and understand each other

Recently, a group of 9 students from different secondary schools in Changwon City (Korea) had a week of exchange, cultural experience and daily life with families of students in Da Nang City, full of joy and meaning.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, the homestay exchange program between students from Da Nang and Changwon (South Korea) has been organized by the department since 2017 and has achieved many positive results. This year, the program, which took place from July 24 to 29, was a restart event after being interrupted due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the beginning of a new phase of cooperation, creating opportunities for students to learn more about the culture, life and friendship between the two countries.

During their stay in Da Nang, Korean students learned about and visited many famous places such as Da Nang Museum, Hoi An Ancient Town, Con Ga Church, Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theater, etc. In particular, they were welcomed home by 9 families of students in the city to experience Da Nang culture, lifestyle, and cuisine .

Kang Seongwon, from Changwon City (South Korea), enjoyed staying with a local family. Thanks to that, Kang Seongwon understood more about the culture and lifestyle of Da Nang people.

“When I return to Korea, I will introduce and share with my relatives and friends the natural beauty of the city, especially the friendliness and hospitality of Da Nang people. Later, I want to return to Da Nang with my family to travel and learn more about the city's famous historical sites,” Kang Seongwon expressed.

Welcoming a Korean friend to live with his family, Le Chi Dan (student of Nguyen Khuyen Secondary and High School) shared: “During the days Kang Seongwon stayed with us, my family cooked many typical Vietnamese dishes for him to enjoy, and took him to explore and visit tourist attractions and entertainment venues in the city. This was an opportunity for us to meet, connect and exchange cultures with each other. Through that, I also learned from him about discipline, punctuality as well as improving my foreign language skills.”

Chi Dan hopes that the exchange program between the two localities will continue to expand so that students from the two cities have the opportunity to bond, share, learn and understand each other, and become "ambassadors" to promote the culture and image of the two countries.

Building trust fosters cooperation

Last June, students from Tay Son and Le Loi Secondary Schools introduced Da Nang city in Japanese and performed “Hello Vietnam” in traditional Ao Dai, leaving many emotions and deep impressions in the hearts of Japanese students. This activity was part of a homestay exchange program in Mitsuke City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

During the exchange with students in Mitsuke City, Da Nang students also participated in lessons and experienced Japanese culture such as calligraphy, origami, traditional kite making, Japanese food making, etc. During the experience of staying at a local family's house, the students had the opportunity to experience daily life, cultural exchange and practice Japanese communication skills.

Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang shared that the exchange program combining homestays between students from Da Nang city with those from Korea and Japan is not only a cultural and educational exchange activity between students. It also expands the relationship, understanding and friendship between the people of Da Nang and international localities.

Because from these students will spread the feelings and culture of the people and land of Da Nang to the people of other countries and vice versa, creating trust between the two sides.

It is the connection and trust that are the premise to promote economic cooperation, investment, education - training, and human resource exchange between Da Nang and other countries. Especially attracting more tourists from Korea and Japan to the city, contributing to the development of the local economy.

With the motto "Connecting Da Nang with the world", Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang said that in the coming time, the department will continue to maintain the student exchange programs that have been implemented between Da Nang and foreign localities, increase the number of annual exchanges; promote the expansion of this program with other foreign localities that have signed cooperation agreements with Da Nang; strengthen communication to promote the image of the program to attract the attention of international friends.
