The program is implemented by the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, in cooperation with the Astana Hub technology park for IT startups.

Starting this October, the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies will open in the capital Astana, offering free education to students aged 12 to 18. Located at the Alem.ai International Center, the program covers 11 areas, including generative AI, game development, animation, 3D modeling, and robotics. The center aims to train 5,000 students a year (no entry requirements) and plans to expand nationwide, including to remote areas, within three to five years.

Since 2021, nearly 10,000 people have received free IT training through the Tech Orda program, which works with 72 private schools specializing in IT. Courses last six months and include programming, big data and cybersecurity, with a graduate employment rate of 88%.

Tomorrow School, Kazakhstan's first AI school, offers a two-year program based on a peer-to-peer learning model (no teachers, students interact and teach each other). Students complete more than 50 projects and learn up to 20 programming languages.

The school is tuition-free, the campus is open 24/7, offers expert lectures, student clubs and free accommodation in apartments for students from all over the country.

Notably, 30% of Tomorrow School students are female. The IT-Áiel project, in partnership with the NGO Techno Women, has trained 5,500 women across Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, Astana Hub offers three free online courses that can be accessed via its mobile app under the AI Movement section. Those who want to test their skills can join Decentrathon 4.0, the country’s largest hackathon, scheduled to take place in September, with over 2,500 participants.

Professionals who don't have their own team or project yet can join AI Preneurs, a program that brings together talented people to create generative AI startups.

In May, Kazakhstan held its first national AI Olympiad for students in grades 9 to 12. 40 of the 683 participants made it to the finals held at Astana University of Information Technology. The 12 winners were invited to training camps to prepare for the international AI Olympiad in Beijing.

Kazakhstan has launched the Qyzmet AI program to improve the efficiency of public services. The first initiative in Central Asia and Central Europe to integrate AI tools into daily operations, the program has so far trained more than 16,000 civil servants through short video lectures and aims to reach 30,000 professionals each year.

Covering all classes and population groups, educational initiatives contribute to the formation of strong human resources in the field of AI and the building of a competitive digital society in Kazakhstan.
