Democratic approval ratings have fallen to a more than 30-year low, while support for US President Donald Trump is rising.

According to the results of two latest national surveys, the number of American voters supporting the Democratic Party has fallen to a record low after the party's representatives failed to win the race for the White House and control of the Senate in the 2024 election.

Specifically, an NBC News survey found that only 27% of voters had a positive view of the Democratic Party, the lowest rate since 1990. Similarly, a CNN survey found that 29% of voters had a positive view of the Democratic Party, the lowest since 1992 and a 20 percentage point drop since January 2021, when Joe Biden began his presidential term. The current support for the Republican Party is 36%.

In both surveys, self-identified Democrats said they wanted to see the party come together and do more to oppose the agenda of Trump and Republicans, even if that led to gridlock. The CNN poll found that Democrats have yet to consolidate support around a potential new leader.

Meanwhile, Mr. Trump's approval rating has shown signs of increasing, even though the majority of American voters believe the country is still going in the wrong direction.

Specifically, the NBC News survey shows that currently 54% of voters think the country is going in the wrong direction and 44% say the opposite (the highest level since 2004). However, compared to November 2024, the time of the election, the number saying it is going in the wrong direction has decreased (from 66%) while the number of negative assessments has tended to increase (from 27%).

Fifty-four percent of voters surveyed said they were dissatisfied with the way Mr. Trump handled the economy in his first weeks, and 55 percent were dissatisfied with inflation and the cost of living. Only 18 percent of voters rated the economy as excellent or good.

According to NBC News, President Trump's overall satisfaction rating is currently 47%, the highest of his political career. According to the survey, 51% of voters are dissatisfied with the 47th president.
