Vietnam U19 women's team lost to Thailand in the final of the Southeast Asian tournament

(Dan Tri) - In the final match of the Southeast Asian U19 women's football tournament taking place tonight (June 18) at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC), the Vietnam U19 women's team lost to Thailand U19 women's team 1-3.

After a few minutes of stalemate, Thailand U19 women's team took the lead, thanks to a mistake by the home team's defense. Rinyaphat Moondong stole the ball from the feet of a defender of Vietnam U19 women's team, before Rinyaphat Moondong rushed down and accurately finished, opening the score 1-0.

After conceding the goal, the Vietnam U19 women's team attacked strongly. In the 50th minute, Hoang Van was fouled by the opponent in the 16m50 area, the referee awarded the home team a penalty.

From the 11m mark, Do Thi Thuy Nga successfully executed the penalty, scoring the equalizer 1-1 for the team of coach Okiyama Masahiko (Japanese).

However, the away team was still the stronger team. In the 61st minute, Thailand scored their second goal of the match. This time, it was the turn of the young team from the Land of the Golden Pagoda to be awarded a penalty.

From the penalty spot, Kurisara Limpawanich fooled the goalkeeper of the Vietnam U19 women's team, scoring to help Thailand lead 2-1.

Not stopping there, in the 68th minute, Thailand scored the third goal. Phatcharaphorn Khuchuea surprisingly shot from a long distance, scoring the winning goal 3-1 for the young team of the Golden Temple country.

This is the third victory of the Thai U19 women's team against the Vietnamese U19 women's team in the finals of the Southeast Asian youth tournament. The previous two times, the Thai U19 women's team won in the finals in 2014 and 2023.

Thailand U19 women's football team won the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 women's football championship, Vietnam U19 women's team ranked second in the tournament.
