On October 12, the Protective Forest Management Board of Tuong Duong district ( Nghe An ) said that it had just rescued a mountain goat caught in a trap set by poachers.
Previously, on October 11, Tam Hop Forest Protection Management Station (Tuong Duong District Forest Protection Management Board) organized a patrol in the deep forest area bordering Vietnam - Laos border. In this area, the patrol force discovered more than 50 wild animal traps made of cable.
In addition to a deer that had been trapped for a long time and died, the forest rangers also discovered a male mountain goat that was still alive. The left front leg of the mountain goat was tied with a cable and hung up.
After carefully cutting and removing the trap, the forest rangers carefully checked the health condition, treated the wounds and released the mountain goat back into the forest.
The mountain goat is an endangered and rare wild animal, listed in group IB according to Decree 06/2019/ND-CP on the management of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals and the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The mountain goat is endemic to countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar.
