This morning, June 6, according to information from the Quang Tri Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, athlete Phan Van Anh Kiet of the Quang Tri Athletics Team, currently competing for the Vietnam Student Athletics Team, has excellently won 1 gold medal in the javelin throw event, athletics at the 13th Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival in 2024.

The 13th Southeast Asian School Sports Festival took place from May 29 to June 9; gathering 1,300 student athletes and coaches from 10 countries in the region; competing in 6 sports, with 107 events. Of which, swimming had 36 sets of medals, basketball had 2 sets of medals, badminton had 7 sets of medals, athletics had 36 sets of medals, pencak silat had 16 sets of medals and Vovinam had 10 sets of medals.

Vietnam has 190 members participating in 6/6 events of the congress. In the uniform of the Vietnamese Student Athletics Team, athlete Phan Van Anh Kiet (born in 2007) had an excellent day of competition, surpassing many strong opponents to win 1 gold medal in the javelin throw, athletics with a score of 68.19m. This achievement of Anh Kiet is superior to the Malaysian athlete with a score of 61.03m winning silver, the Singaporean athlete with a score of 59.70m winning bronze.

It is known that after many impressive achievements such as: 2 gold medals in javelin throw and shot put at the 2022 National Youth Athletics Championship; 1 gold medal in javelin throw, 1 silver medal in shot put at the 2023 National Youth Athletics Championship; 1 silver medal in javelin throw at the 2023 Southeast Asian Youth Athletics Championship..., athlete Phan Van Anh Kiet was called to the Vietnam Youth Athletics Team in early 2024.

In particular, in his first participation in the 13th Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival, the young man from Quang Tri competed confidently and courageously to win the precious gold medal, bringing glory to his homeland and country.
