Australia - Vietnam Policy Institute pledges to promote cooperation between the two countries

VOV.VN - On June 13, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam received Mr. Layton Pike, co-founder of the Australia-Vietnam Policy Institute (AVPI) and Head of the International Cooperation Department of RMIT University at the Vietnamese Embassy in Canberra.

At the meeting, Mr. Layton Pike welcomed Australia and Vietnam for upgrading their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2024 during the official visit to Australia by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh ; emphasizing that the two sides officially opened the AVPI Institute at RMIT University during the visit, which significantly contributed to promoting cooperation, exchange and enhancing understanding between the two countries.

Mr. Layton Pike also shared about the process of expanding over 30 AVPI networks in Australia, in which the Institute's partners are interested in supporting the Australia-Vietnam relationship, thereby contributing to facilitating the promotion of bilateral cooperation areas; affirmed that the Institute will soon organize a workshop in the fourth quarter of 2024 and look forward to the participation of the Vietnamese side to discuss potential cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

Ambassador Pham Hung Tam expressed his delight at the expansion and development of AVPI and highly appreciated the establishment of the Advisory Council and the Institute's planned activities in 2024; expecting that the Institute will have more important policy contributions to promote key areas of cooperation identified in the Joint Statement on upgrading bilateral relations during the Vietnamese Prime Minister 's visit to Australia. The Ambassador also emphasized that on the basis of good cooperation and trust between the two countries, he suggested that AVPI soon implement more new initiatives and further expand its network of partners, facilitating the promotion of Vietnam-Australia relations.
