In the new images posted by Becamex TP.HCM, Julien Nguyen appeared on the training ground with the team. The presence of this Vietnamese-American player quickly sparked rumors that he was about to join the V.League.
However, according to Tri Thuc - News' investigation, Julien Nguyen only trained at Becamex TP.HCM while returning to Vietnam with his family. He will return to Spain next week to continue playing for his home team. This is the first time Julien has had the opportunity to train at a professional club in Vietnam.
Julien Nguyen was born in 2006, is 1.82 m tall, and plays as a defensive midfielder. He was born in Canada, and both his parents are Vietnamese. Before joining and playing for the Fuenlabrada youth team, Julien played for the Rayo Vallecano youth team - a place that has produced many young talents for Spanish football.
Julien's family expressed their hope that the young player will soon be granted Vietnamese citizenship so that he can contribute to his home country's football. Julien himself has not hidden his desire to play for the Vietnamese national team.
“I am currently in the process of applying for Vietnamese citizenship. I know it is not an easy task, but the VFF has provided a lot of support for overseas Vietnamese players like me,” Julien shared on midfielder Luong Xuan Truong’s Postcast. “Vietnam is the homeland of my parents and grandparents. Although I was born and raised in Canada, I am always proud to have Vietnamese blood in me. It would be great if one day I could play for the Vietnam national team.”
Julien Nguyen is one of many Vietnamese players who have grown up abroad and expressed their desire to return to contribute to the country's football. In the context of VFF promoting its policy of seeking overseas Vietnamese players, Julien Nguyen's case promises to be a name to watch in the near future.
