Vietnam hands over rotating chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Greece

On June 26, in its role as Chair of the ASEAN Committee on ASEAN Trade in Services (ACAT), the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece organized the 36th ACAT meeting in Athens with the participation of Ambassadors and the ASEAN Working Group in Greece including Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.

Speaking at the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Thi Thu Huong reviewed ACAT's activities in Greece in the first 6 months of 2025.

Notably, there was a meeting between ACAT Ambassadors and the Greek Foreign Minister, the successful organization of the third ASEAN Plus Bazaar, ASEAN Family Day, and working with the Greece-ASEAN Business Council (HABC).

These activities have contributed to further strengthening political , economic and cultural relations between ASEAN countries and local politicians and people as well as with other countries located in the area.

At the meeting, ASEAN Ambassadors also discussed local, regional and global situations of mutual interest and shared information on delegation exchange and cooperation activities between member countries and Greece.

Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Thi Thu Huong handed over the rotating ACAT Chairmanship to the Indonesian Ambassador to Greece.

The Ambassadors agreed that in the last 6 months of 2025, they will continue to further promote connections with Greek authorities, localities and businesses as well as promote the image, identity and strengthen ASEAN solidarity through organizing activities such as ASEAN Day, ASEAN Family Day, etc. At the meeting, the Vietnamese Ambassador handed over the rotating ACAT Chairmanship to the Indonesian Ambassador to Greece.

Next, the Vietnamese Ambassador chaired a reception with the participation of the Director General of the Department of Asia and Oceania, Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Director General of the Department of International and Public Relations, Greek Parliament; Ambassador, wife of ACAT and major ASEAN partner countries such as Japan and South Korea.

Thanking the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Greek Parliament for supporting the activities of ASEAN countries in the past time and the support of ASEAN's partner countries in the joint activities chaired by ACAT, the Ambassador hopes to continue to receive closer cooperation for ASEAN activities in the coming time.
