Vietnam pledges to strongly support multilateralism, 2030 agenda for sustainable development

Ambassador Do Hung Viet proposed strengthening public-private partnerships and promoting responsible business to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 agenda.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet speaks at the High-Level Discussion of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

On July 22, in New York, Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, spoke at the High-Level Discussion of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2025 with the theme "80 Years of the United Nations: Driving Change for Sustainable Development".

Ambassador Do Hung Viet emphasized that in the context of the world and the United Nations facing many challenges, it is necessary to strengthen multilateral cooperation with strong and drastic actions.

Welcoming efforts to reform the United Nations, including the UN80 Initiative, considering this an opportunity to build a streamlined, effective and more practical United Nations system, especially at the national level, the Ambassador shared about the successful implementation of the “One United Nations” initiative in Vietnam, useful experience for the current reform process.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet emphasized the key role of science , technology and innovation in implementing the SDGs, and called for creating conditions for developing countries to have equitable access to advanced technologies, knowledge and digital infrastructure, through technology transfer, capacity building and innovation cooperation.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet affirmed that Vietnam is committed to strongly supporting multilateralism and the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

Highlighting the role of the private sector in promoting sustainable development, especially through innovation, investment, green job creation and sustainable supply chain building, the Ambassador proposed strengthening public-private partnerships and promoting responsible business to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 agenda.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet called on developed countries to fully implement financial commitments, support technology transfer and capacity building for developing countries to build sustainable infrastructure and industries.

In addition, the Ambassador also emphasized that the Economic and Social Council needs to play a role in promoting global partnerships to scale up innovative solutions, especially those that leverage emerging technologies.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam is committed to strongly supporting multilateralism, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and partnerships to promote joint efforts to achieve the SDGs and leave no one behind.
