Mr. Ta Hoang Linh, Director of the Department of Foreign Market Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade , said that recently, the world economy has continuously experienced shocks such as epidemics, geopolitical conflicts, and inflation, causing many challenges for production and business activities of Vietnamese enterprises. In this situation, Vietnam has implemented a strategy to diversify markets, products, and distribution channels, gradually maintaining and expanding its position in international trade.
Mr. Ta Hoang Linh said that expanding export markets is not only an urgent requirement but also a long-term orientation. In addition to traditional markets such as the US, Europe, and Japan, Vietnamese enterprises need to focus on exploring potential markets such as the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and West Asia, where import demand is high and competition is less. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to accompany enterprises through B2B connection programs, training to improve export capacity, and building national brands.
According to Mr. Hoang Linh, one of the activities that has brought practical results is the series of events "Connecting the international supply chain - Vietnam International Sourcing" and the Export Forum, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee from 2023 to present. In 2024, this series of events will continue to take place from September 4 to 6 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, combined with the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair, creating a multi-industry connection chain. More than 400 Vietnamese enterprises will introduce more than 12,000 products in four groups of products: Agricultural products - food - beverages; consumer industrial goods; supporting industries and electronic equipment.
Ms. Nguyen Cam Tu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center, said that the annual ITE HCMC Fair is an important event to promote the image of Ho Chi Minh City tourism destination to foreign tourists. Therefore, this year, the tourism industry has been promoting its role as a trade bridge through diverse tourism products: from urban tourism, sea and forest tourism, to industrial tourism, MICE... to bring many new tourism products at the ITE HCMC Fair next September. Through this fair, businesses will have the opportunity to connect directly with large tourism corporations and businesses in the form of B2B, creating conditions to promote and introduce Vietnamese tourism products closer to international tourists...
Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), said that after three years of implementing a series of export promotion activities, many Vietnamese enterprises have approached major partners and signed high-value orders. In particular, through networking forums and international fairs jointly organized by ITPC, Vietnamese products have initially made their mark in new markets such as the Middle East, North Africa, Malaysia and Indonesia. In the Australian and Indian markets, some Ho Chi Minh City enterprises have successfully brought their products into local retail systems.
“The factor that creates the effectiveness of the event series is the real connection, designed according to the needs of importers and the supply capacity of Vietnamese enterprises. Therefore, enterprises also expect that through this year's event, there will be more potential products that will be interested and selected by international partners, contributing to improving competitiveness and building Vietnamese brands in the global market,” said Mr. Tran Phu Lu.
