After athletes Nguyen Thi Thu Ha (800m women), Pham Thi Hong Le (5,000m women), and Nguyen Trung Cuong (5,000m men) all competed unsuccessfully, all attention turned to the final of the women's 4x400m relay.

In this event, Vietnam has top athletes such as Nguyen Thi Huyen, Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh. These are also the runners who brought home gold medals at the 32nd SEA Games with an impressive achievement of 3 minutes 33 seconds 05.

The Vietnamese team started in lane 3 and young athlete Nguyen Thi Ngoc was the first to run. She finished 4th. Nguyen Thi Minh Hanh then made a spectacular breakthrough to help the Vietnamese women's team finish 3rd after 2 laps.

Unlike the 32nd SEA Games, Nguyen Thi Huyen surprisingly became runner number 3. The mother of one accelerated past her Japanese opponent to take the lead in the competition.

The last runner was Nguyen Thi Hang. The athlete from Ba Vi ( Hanoi ) far surpassed her opponents before finishing first, winning the gold medal with a time of 3 minutes 32 seconds 06.

This parameter is even much better than the SEA Games 32 gold medal.

Thus, after 4 days of competition, the Vietnamese athletics team won 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal. The gold medals of Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh, Nguyen Thi Huyen, Nguyen Thi Hang in the women's 4x400m relay event were truly prestigious and marked history for Vietnamese athletics in the continental arena.

After Vietnam, Sri Lanka ranked second with a time of 3 minutes 33 seconds 27, India ranked third with a time of 3 minutes 33 seconds 73.

The 2023 Asian Athletics Championships will take place from July 12-16 at Suphachalasai Stadium in Thailand with more than 40 participating countries. The tournament will be considered for qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
