The spokesman said he had received information that many cooperation projects between the two countries were continuing to be implemented or restarted, including projects to clear mines and explosives left over from the war and to handle pollution at Bien Hoa airport.

According to the Spokesperson, cooperation in overcoming war consequences is considered the foundation of Vietnam-US relations, and plays an important role in the process of "reconciliation, healing and building trust between the two countries, opening up new opportunities for cooperation in other important areas."

“Continuing to effectively and substantially implement these projects will make practical contributions to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development between the two countries,” said Ms. Hang.

Previously, the Trump administration had cut more than 90% of the USAID aid program for projects around the world. However, according to a statement from a representative of the Meta Group, cooperation programs to address the consequences of war in Vietnam will continue with the help of the US Government.

This information was released on the occasion of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) holding a Press Meeting event on the occasion of the US High-Level Business Delegation's visit and work in Vietnam on March 18.
