On the afternoon of July 3, at the Presidential Palace, President To Lam received Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou who came to greet and congratulate the President on the occasion of assuming his new position.

At the reception, President To Lam congratulated Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou on the National Day of the Republic of Belarus (July 3, 1991 - July 3, 2024) and expressed his joy at the socio-economic achievements that Belarus has achieved in national development in recent times.

The President affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Belarus have been nurtured by the leaders and people of the two countries since the Soviet era, and have been continuously promoted over the past 30 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992.

Vietnam always considers Belarus a friend and trusted partner, appreciates the help that the Belarusian people have given Vietnam in the past, and is determined to continue to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Belarus.

The President highly appreciated the results of cooperation between the two countries in recent times, including promoting the Intergovernmental Committee mechanism in implementing cooperation agreements and efforts to seek measures to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of politics-diplomacy, economics-trade, investment, defense, security, science-technology, culture, education, local cooperation, etc.

For his part, Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou affirmed that Belarus attaches importance to the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries and wishes to strengthen cooperation in all fields of politics-diplomacy, economy-trade, culture, education and people-to-people exchange, especially between the young generations of the two countries.

The Ambassador highly agreed with the directions for promoting cooperation proposed by the President, including the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, through all channels of the Party, State, Parliament and Youth Union, and the enhancement of people-to-people exchanges, including culture and tourism, especially after the Agreement between Vietnam and Belarus on visa exemption for ordinary passport holders takes effect; affirming that the Ambassador himself will make every effort to develop the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus.

Discussing cooperation at international organizations and multilateral forums, President To Lam and the Belarusian Ambassador agreed that the two countries will continue to coordinate and support each other at international and regional forums, such as the United Nations, the Eurasian Economic Union, etc. for the common interests of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
