VnExpressVnExpress24/09/2023

Sao Paulo Prime Minister proposed that aerospace corporation Embraer support Vietnam with technological solutions to help improve management capacity in the aviation sector.

On the afternoon of September 23 (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked with the Embraer Aerospace Corporation in the city of São José dos Campos, São Paulo state, Federal Republic of Brazil.

According to the head of the Government, aviation development has become a trend of the times because it is convenient, fast, and reasonably priced. Investing in aviation infrastructure through public investment is also cheaper than other forms of transport such as road and rail. In recent times, this industry and Vietnam Airlines have developed very rapidly as the demand for tourism and commercial and investment activities have increased.

Highly appreciating Embraer's commercial aircraft products for their operational safety and environmental friendliness, the Prime Minister said that the group's new generation commercial aircraft could be a solution to help Vietnamese airlines develop their fleets, ensuring operational efficiency and flight safety.

The Government leader believes in the bright future of aviation trade between the two countries in expanding cooperation and investment to develop the group's business ecosystem in Vietnam. The Prime Minister suggested that the group consider participating in providing aircraft maintenance and repair services, training human resources, and providing short- or long-term professional training courses for officials in the Vietnamese aviation industry.

"We wish to support technological solutions, improve management capacity in the aviation sector, increase automation, forecast and prevent risks in flight management activities," said the Prime Minister.

Accompanying the Vietnamese Government leaders to visit the aircraft showroom and modern production facilities, Embraer Group Chairman and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto highly appreciated the potential of the Vietnamese market. He said that this place is suitable for the group's existing aircraft models, especially suitable for short-haul flights and not too large number of passengers.

"We hope to continue receiving the attention and support of the Vietnamese Government in the process of seeking cooperation opportunities and expanding the market," said the President and CEO of Embraer Group. He also said that he is ready to deploy aircraft maintenance and repair services in Vietnam, as well as provide technological solutions in the aviation sector.

Embraer Aerospace Corporation was founded in 1969 in the city of Sao Jose dos Campos, and is currently the third largest commercial aircraft manufacturer in the world, after Boeing and Airbus, with a strength in manufacturing aircraft under 130 seats. Revenue in 2022 reached 4.6 billion USD, profit reached 540 million USD.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in Sao Paulo at noon on September 23, beginning an official visit to Brazil from September 23 to 26, after concluding a working trip to the United States. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is the first Vietnamese Party and government leader to officially visit Brazil since 2007.
