Expressing his honor at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Vu Trung - Director of the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City - said that the event marked a new milestone in the close cooperative relationship between the institute and Japanese academic and public health organizations, including Nagasaki University - a particularly close and long-term cooperative partner.
The objectives are to expand research cooperation, organize seminars and conferences; share information and academic materials; exchange scholars and researchers; develop capacity for undergraduate and graduate students; and carry out other cooperative activities in accordance with the capacity and orientation of each party.
“This is the result of more than two decades of cooperation and is also the basis for the two sides to continue to accompany and develop in the coming time,” said Mr. Trung.
Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Ono Masuo assessed that the development of preventive medicine is important in preventing the onset and spread of infectious diseases, thereby protecting people's lives and health.
He expected that the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City and Nagasaki University would contribute to improving infectious disease control in Vietnam and around the world .

Mr. Nguyen Ngo Quang - Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training (Ministry of Health) - said that the memorandum of understanding signed between the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City and Nagasaki University demonstrates deep consensus and high determination in promoting comprehensive, equal, mutually beneficial and mutually respectful cooperation.
“I appreciate the proactive, open-minded and professional spirit of the two sides' focal units in building cooperation content, as well as carefully preparing so that the memorandum is feasible, sustainable and in-depth,” said Mr. Quang.
To effectively implement the cooperation memorandum, the Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training requested the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City to develop an action plan for the first 6 months and 1 year, focusing on contents that can be implemented early such as short-term expert exchanges, organizing bilateral workshops, and connecting joint research groups.
Work closely with the focal point of Nagasaki University to propose potential research projects; prepare necessary administrative procedures for personnel and document exchange, as well as develop implementation agreements (MOAs) for each specific activity.
At the same time, proactively seek and mobilize resources from international research support programs and funds, and sponsoring organizations to ensure financial sustainability for cooperation activities.
