At the conference, Hong Son commune announced the decision to establish and assign tasks to members of the Civil Defense Command Committee in 2025; approved a plan to ensure the safety of dykes, dams, irrigation works...

In 2024, Hong Son suffered heavy damage due to two major storms and prolonged floods, affecting thousands of households. Entering 2025, with the characteristics of a large commune, dense population, many low-lying areas, and prone to forest floods, Hong Son commune soon developed a comprehensive plan to respond to natural disasters. This includes such contents as assessing climate trends until the end of 2025, plans to protect dykes, dams, irrigation works, flood scenarios, response measures, arrangement of materials, forces, and rescue equipment.

At the conference, delegates shared experiences in directing response to flooding, overcoming difficulties in coordinating forces and proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of civil defense work in new conditions.

Concluding the conference, Chairman of Hong Son Commune People's Committee Ngo Quoc Ca emphasized the requirement to "not be passive or surprised in any natural disaster situation". Local agencies and units focused on reviewing areas at high risk of landslides, flash floods, and forest floods, developing plans to evacuate residents, and proactively ensuring the safety of the dyke, embankment, and dam systems.

At the same time, agencies and units effectively implement plans for internal irrigation, clear water flows, repair bridges and culverts, inspect key works; have appropriate plans to protect agricultural production, livestock, and aquaculture, and minimize damage caused by extreme weather. On-duty work, information, and damage reporting during the storm season must be maintained seriously and promptly, serving practical direction and management.
