The flow of tourists has grown impressively, reaching an average of over 82,200 visitors per year. year, significantly contributing to the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reaching over 122 billion VND.
In particular, community tourism has exploded, helping many households confidently welcome thousands of visitors, turning tourism from a modest source of supplementary income into a main source of livelihood, bringing prosperity and well-being.

We believe in the leadership of the Party Committee and government in developing tourism, attracting tourists, contributing to increasing people's income.
The close cooperation of the commune government, mass organizations, especially the commune Party Committee, has given great strength to the people. The strong development of community tourism is also supported by effective collective economic models. Currently, in Mu Cang Chai commune, there are 29 cooperatives, of which more than 10 cooperatives specialize in tourism development, playing the role of a solid bridge between the people and the market, helping to standardize services and enhance the value chain of local tourism products.
The traditional homestay model is not only a place to stay, but also a community tourism product, providing livelihoods and preserving culture.
A series of training courses on tourism skills, communication, and guest reception are held regularly. Tourism cooperatives are closely connected with businesses, together building professional tours and effectively promoting local OCOP products. In particular, a system of local tour guides is gradually forming, professional in service but still maintaining the rustic, genuine features of the local people.
Thanks to that, tourism not only brings stable income, but is also a “magnet” to keep young people in their homeland. Many Mong youths who once intended to leave their villages to seek opportunities in the city have now confidently become dynamic tour guides, talented chefs, or professional homestay managers right on the land of their birth. Confidence, dynamism and pride in their ethnic culture are the invaluable “soft benefits” that community tourism is bringing to Mu Cang Chai commune.

Big goals, clear vision
With a strategic vision to build Mu Cang Chai into a comprehensive and sustainable development in the direction of "green - harmony - identity and happiness", the first Party Congress of the commune has established a roadmap for the period 2025 - 2030. Three key strategic breakthroughs have been clearly identified, including: developing human resources, improving people's capacity in tourism and economy; mobilizing and effectively using resources, synchronously investing in infrastructure (transportation, digital, inter-regional); focusing on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector, making Mu Cang Chai a typical destination of the Northwest.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Hiep, Chairman of Mu Cang Chai Commune People's Committee, shared about the specific action plan: We will adjust the general planning, clearly identify the strengths of each sub-region: tourism associated with ethnic culture; developing medicinal herbs and green agriculture ; expanding the accommodation service system.
The key area for developing resort tourism in the Ta Cua Y area has been planned. The commune also pays special attention to restoring traditional crafts, such as brocade weaving, weaving, forging, combined with homestay models to both create livelihoods and preserve cultural heritage.
The goal set by Mu Cang Chai is to attract 110,000 - 150,000 visitors/year, striving to reach 600,000 to 1 million visitors in the period 2025 - 2030.
Along with economic development, the commune attaches special importance to preserving and promoting tangible and intangible cultural values of the nation; at the same time, promoting digital transformation in tourism. Online tourism applications, digital data systems and training programs on technology use for people are being strongly deployed.
In particular, national defense and security work and maintaining social order are always given top priority to ensure a safe and sustainable development environment.
