Photographer Nguyen Khanh Vu Khoa (from Ho Chi Minh City) told Tuoi Tre Online that he took the photo series Ben Tre - people and land a week ago during a business trip to the southwestern region.

On the way back to Ho Chi Minh City passing through Ben Tre (now Vinh Long province), Mr. Vu Khoa decided to stop in his hometown of Dong Khoi for two days to explore .

He visited many famous places and craft villages related to coconut processing to capture beautiful moments of the peaceful land formed from three large islands including Minh Island, Bao Island and An Hoa Island.

Although it was Nguyen Khanh Vu Khoa's first visit to Ben Tre, he captured many moments that fully introduced the beauty of the land and people here.

To the locals, Ben Tre appears gentle, peaceful and beautiful. Each photo is like a cultural slice introducing the characteristics of the Southwest region in general and Ben Tre in particular.

Those who are far from home feel nostalgic and emotional when they see familiar images of their hometown through creative photography, which somewhat soothes their homesickness.

The Thom River carries heavy silt.

These are images of old people happily living with their children and grandchildren, children playing carefree in the vegetable fields their mothers grew, people buying and selling, processing coconuts, coconut fiber, and purchasing straw after the harvest, vast coconut fields surrounding the village, and the hometown river carrying heavy alluvium...

“Thank you for telling me about the love of the land and people of my hometown Ben Tre”; “The images of Ben Tre are so wonderful”; “No matter where I go, I will always remember my hometown Ben Tre! A place that holds many memories”; “Whoever comes to the coconut land of Ben Tre will want to stay and not want to leave”… the audience commented under the article sharing the photo series on social networks.

“The people of Ben Tre always have a smile on their lips, even though their hands are rough from the sun and wind. Here, people are not in a hurry, just quiet and steady like a coconut tree that is resilient against storms, sweet after many days of drought... Although I only visited for 2 days, the deep love for Ben Tre makes me miss this land forever..." - Nguyen Khanh Vu Khoa shared.
